I have been at a loss for over a year…..there have been several “life changing” events that have taken place and I would like the opportunity to share them. However, I am not sure how this would work, or if anyone would truly be interested…..I went from having a 16 year career, to none at all. Then my husband had health issues and was out of work for over 5 months with no income. I lost my mother unexpectedly, my sons were in a car crash the day we were to bury my mother and then my husband was put back in the hospital in November. I have submitted over 150 applications for employment and have not received one interview….very depressing. My in-laws just passed away within the past week, 4 hours and 2 minutes apart. Would my story be something that might capture readers attention….although I have issues with depression, I know that I can't give up. I have four wonderful sons and a husband that need me….any advice on the blog situation would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I started on the free Wordpress blog, but after gaining something of an audience (about 500+ hits a day), I regretted it when I began to have ideas of monetizing the blog. Hi Allen – the answer is “that really depends”. Remember that starting a blog is step 1. Step 2 is creating good content (writing useful stuff) that people actually want to read, on a regular basis (say 2+ times per week). After a while people will actually start coming to your site to consume more of your great stuff (your helpful articles). Only then do you have something that can be monetized.

Basically staring a blog is more like an easy way to start your own business – it does take some work and patience, even though some people make it out to be a magic money machine. But if you follow our advice above you’ll be writing on a topic that you’re passionate about so it’s not a hassle like going to work is for most people.
